🎙️ Cultivating Care with Bronwyn from Minka Guides
Bronwyn shares how being very intentional and becoming the host helped her build the strong, queer community of her dreams (and more)!
For a while I’ve wanted to do a series of interviews where I’m talking to other people about their concept of creating the world we want to live in. What do we all care about, what even is care, and how do we get more of it in our world?
One theme I hear repeated in conversations around social change are that folks feel powerless. What does change look like? How does a regular degular person change the world?
Sometimes we can get stuck in critique. What is wrong and bad about our world today? Let’s get angry about it! Swipe to the next post.
Understanding the theoretical underpinnings of our social and political world does help us think critically about the future. It’s important! But at the end of the day, we need to turn this learning into action. We need to become the people we want to see in the world and take intentional action to shape our collective future.
In these conversations, I want to center the ways we all make change, both big and small, by showing up as our full selves and being intentional about who and how we want to be in the world.
My first conversation is with the lovely Bronwyn of Minka Guides. We talk about queerness, polyamory, how to build a group of friends, how meditation is maybe actually helpful, how the world today is pretty great in a lot of ways, and more!
This is my first time, so please bear with me on a lack of solid intro/outro! I’ll do it better next time! We all start somewhere 😆
I hope you pop this on while folding some laundry or going for a walk and enjoy. I’d love to hear what you think. Do you have anything that’s worked for you to build community around things you love? Have you ever turned to meditation? Journaling: yay or nay? Let me know in the comments.
[Note: if you want subtitles, watch the video on YouTube here!]
And I’ve got another couple exploratory essays coming on some bigger topics, and then we’ll drop another conversation talking about making art, getting it out into the streets, and making a whole documentary about a culture you care about with Sha’risse Smith.
With love,
