Cultivating Care with Sha-risse Smith, on film, stickers, and being an authentic human

On stickers, street art culture, documenting what you love, and being an authentic human in the world.

🧐 Have you ever wondered how stickers you see on street poles get there? The answer: sticker people.

Sha-risse Smith, artist, film-maker, and overall delightful human, joined me to talk about something she cares about: sticker culture. She cares so much that she made a whole documentary about it, Sticker Movie.

We explore sticker culture, being a Black woman in the often white-male dominated space of street art, folks who inspire us, and more. Pop this on while going for a walk or doing some laundry, enjoy some laughs, and learn about the secret world of us weird sticker people 😆

You can find Sha-risse on Instagram for more sticker art.

And let me know if you start noticing the stickers around you more often after watching 👀

[Note: you can also watch this on Youtube here which will have auto subtitles 🙏]

Also, somehow the audio on this is slightly off from the video and I hate this for me, but I couldn’t figure out how to fix it and didn’t want to delay sharing this any longer. So here we are. Step by step, I’ll get better at this whole thing. That’s how it goes, no?

Anyway, I hope you enjoy. 💜 And go check out the Sticker Movie. They are way better at editing than I am 😆
